The many faces of Remy..

..and his new haircut.

Remy got his very first haircut over the weekend. He looks nearly unrecognizable to me now. He sat in the stylist's chair as a long haired surfer baby and left a clean cut little man.

I had this silly, irrational fear that cutting his hair would magically take away all his cuteness.
I was obviously very wrong.

18 months of Remy

Remy and I didn't exactly have the best of days today. In fact, most days are pretty rough around here right now. You see, Remy thinks he's a four year old. And wants to do the things that four year olds can do. But sir cranky pants over here is merely 18 months today.

Little guy is very spirited. Very headstrong. And very, very cute.

Fun facts about 18 month Remy:

He is still not sleeping through the night.

He's suddenly become a lot more picky about food.

Diaper changes are his least favorite time of day.

He's still taking a full two hour nap every afternoon. (Woot!)

He thinks the toilet is hilarious.

His favorite words are poo, ball, eat and go.

He thoroughly enjoys picking on his big sister.

He's still a biter. (We're working on it.)

He is go go go from the time he wakes up until his head hits the crib for his nap.

His smile and little laugh are THE best.

....

There's a lot more I could probably add to this, but by the time this kid goes to bed, my brain hurts.

....

Dearest Remy,

Despite all the times you make me want to bang my head against a wall, you are forever my golden boy. We love you more than you could ever fathom and can't imagine our family without you.

Love, Mom

15 months of Remy.

Oh dear.

15 whole months?!

Unbelievable!

I thought today would be a perfect day to talk about our dear, sweet Remy. Especially since I spent half the day up to my elbows in diaper rash cream and blow out diapers. Motherhood is a blast sometimes.

Remember back when Remy was a wee lad and I boldly declared that he was the most laid back, well behaved little guy ever?

Yeah, scratch that.

And I thought because he was such an easygoing baby that the transition into toddlerhood would be painless.

Wrong again.

Homeboy. is. a. terrorist. He's like the love child of the Tasmanian Devil and Spiderman. I can't think of any other way to describe it. But...

He is so dang cute that anything and everything he does makes us all bust out into a chorus of "awwww's." And he babbles. Good Lord, does he babble on endlessly. His favorite words are Dad, Owen, cheese, and bye bye.

If he sees older brother or sister go outside to play, he'll quickly find the nearest shoes and bring them to me as if to say, "c'mon woman, let's go!" He still loves to eat. Even if he just ate a four course meal, he will still try to steal my food right out of my hand. And forget trying to hold him. He is entirely too busy for that and will immediately start to fidget his way out of your arms the moment you pick him up.

The past six weeks or so have been a real eye opener for me when it comes to the reality I'll be facing in a few months. Trying to wrangle Indiana Jones here and taking care of the needs of a newborn. But for right now, I am loving every messy, tantrum filled, joyful moment with this guy.

Our Terrorist Toddler

There once was a baby named Remy.

He was sweet, like syrup on a spoon. And laid back to boot.
Nary a cry came from that cuddly lump of baby.

Seemingly overnight, that sugary sweet lump of baby became a toddler.

A biting, climbing, teetering, screaming, sibling harassing terrorist of a toddler.

His mom hides in the corner a lot nowadays.

The end.

Armpit farts

Me: Owen, what are you doing?
Him: Teaching the baby how to armpit fart. Duh.

Well then..
